Materials


Uptown Framers uses a variety of top quality materials to create a custom frame that is unique to your personal style.

Mats and Backing


Materials used within the framing package are conservation quality and acid-free – never cardboard, glue, or masking tape. Mats are made from 100% cotton fibers that are naturally acid-free or alpha-cellulose fibers which are buffered to an alkaline pH 8.9 +/-. Backing boards with Artcare™  technology protect the artwork from pollutants entering the back of the framed piece and from any acid by-products within the frame.

Glass


Glazing is single-handedly one of the most important features in a framing package. Ultra-violet protection is a must for any paper-borne art or fabric art. Light’s damaging effects can render even the most valuable art worthless. Glazing with a UV filtering factor of at least 99% is used for all frames requiring glass or plexi-glass. Selections include clear, reflection control, and museum glass.

Hinging


Your art is never taped or glued down. Acid-free or alkaline hinging and acid-free photo corners are used to protect your art. Our methods are completely reversible should the art or items being framed need to be removed at any time.

Dustcover


Acid-free backing paper in a distinctive blue color gives additional protection for your art as well as the wall on which it hangs.

Wire


Stainless steel wire gives strength and remains rust-free. It will not damage walls due to rust or tarnish. We suggest hanging your art with two hangers to help support the weight and keep your art hanging straight.
